Over many years in ministry we have frequently come across Christians who are struggling with severe problems in the areas of depression, obsession, fantasizing, fear, rejection to mention but a few of the struggles many Christians are seeking to cope with.  In the majority of cases these dear Saints have had prayer and it has seemingly been to no avail.  They are confused and cannot understand why they are plagued in these ways.  In many such cases, in fact in most, the problems can be attributed to the work of one or more evil spirits.   Many Christians today cringe at the thought that evil spirits and demons are in fact real.  They may have been led to believe by false teaching that in this modern age, such entities do not exist. Contrary to the thoughts and beliefs of many, demons and evils spirits do exist and they are just as real as in the days of Jesus’ ministry.  In the great commission that Jesus gave to His disciples, we find that the first sign of those who believe in Jesus would be that they will cast out evil spirits in the name of Jesus.
 

Mark 16:17 (NKJV)

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

Surely, we should recognize that Jesus would not command His disciples to cast out things that do not exist.  On the contrary we find that as we study the ministry of Jesus, a considerable part of His ministry involved casting out evil spirits.  Here are a few examples in the Bible where this occurs.
 

Matthew 4:24 (NKJV)

24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.
 

Matthew 8:16 (NKJV)

16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
 

Matthew 12:22 (NKJV)

22 Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.
 

Matthew 9:32-33 (NKJV)

32 As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon-possessed. 
33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, “It was never seen like this in Israel!”
 

Matthew 10:8 (NKJV)

8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Mark 1:34 (NKJV)

34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

Luke 8:2 (NKJV)

2 and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons,

The above scriptures comprise but a small selection of the many scriptures in the New Testament, speaking of those who received deliverance from demons or evil spirits. 

​

It should be very clearly understood on this point that not all who are troubled by evil spirits are possessed.  In fact, this is quite rare by comparison to those who are oppressed.  Furthermore, let us make it very clear that a born-again Christian serving God faithfully cannot be demon possessed, however, unfortunately they can be oppressed by an evil spirit or spirits.  Peter preaching to the Gentiles in the Book of Acts made this clear.

Acts 10:38 (NKJV)

38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

It has been our delight and joy to minister to hundreds of dear Christians who were oppressed by one or more evil spirits. In answer to prayer they were gloriously set free and delivered.  The conditions they suffered are just too numerous to mention. 

​

We are well aware that here in America in many Christian quarters, such ministry is frowned upon as being archaic and unnecessary.  However, we do know this, that many dear Christians are suffering in numerous different ways because of the oppression of evil spirits, and they cannot find those who in faith will minister the deliverance that they so desperately need.
